Legal Compliance: The firm is currently helping implement a new compliance program for a major Asia-Pacific listed multinational. In the past it has advised numerous US and European listed companies in that area, across a number of industries.

Private Equity

Corporate Governance and Legal Compliance: Private equity firms have asked that Jim serve in executive or management positions to develop or enhance corporate governance and legal compliance, often in pre-IPO situations. The PE firms have been US, UK and Norwegian based.

The firm has advised an even broader range of US and European private equity owned companies on governance structure and Board practices.

Legal Management: The firm has assisted US and European private equity-owned companies with in-house legal management and with the management of complex problems involving significant legal issues.

Transactions: The firm’s first engagement was to manage divestitures for a European private-equity owned company, and since then its M&A related clients have included additional private equity owned companies.

Family Owned

The firm has only recently begun working for large family-owned businesses, and the work has primarily involved design of appropriate corporate governance frameworks, and to a lesser extent strategy and transactions advice.

We expect this area of practice to grow significantly in regions like the Middle East, where family ownership and control is common among many of the most important groups operating internationally.
